How the fees combine
Commission plus payment processing
1. Commission
A percentage of the item price. The rate depends on the category and on your four-week sales tier; for sports at the Standard tier it is 8%.
2. Payment processing
2.9% + $0.30 of the total the buyer pays: item price plus buyer-paid shipping and tax.
Payout = item price - commission - processing - shipping you pay yourself
Whatnot's seller fees page lists these two charges; this calculator does not add any other per-order fee. If your account shows a different charge, use the custom commission field in the calculator.

Questions
How much does Whatnot take from a sale?
Two charges. A commission on the item price (8% for sports at the Standard tier; the rate depends on category and tier) and payment processing of 2.9% + $0.30 on the total the buyer pays. The calculator on this page shows both for your numbers.
Is the Whatnot commission charged on shipping?
No. Commission is on the item price only. Shipping and sales tax the buyer pays are part of the base for payment processing.
Why does a cheap sale lose a bigger share to fees?
The fixed $0.30 in the processing fee is the same on every order, so it is a larger share of a small sale. The table above shows it at three prices.
